Steve Davies

Steve Davies has a software engineering and product development background in data and telecommunications spanning over 22 years in roles ranging from developer through to VP Engineering and CTO. Throughout his career Steve has maintained an expertise in the then-current networking protocols, systems and architectures specialising in real-time voice, video and data communications systems.

Steve co-founded Visual Nexus Limited with Geoff Seabrook to take the Visual Nexus visual collaboration product to the global market. Prior to this, Steve was CTO and co-founder of Ridgeway Systems & Software, which was eventually acquired by Tandberg. At Ridgeway, Steve brought 3 products to market: an ISDN-IP video conferencing gateway/switch, a system for adding Internet video to PSTN audio calls and a secure firewall/NAT traversal border element for voice and video over IP deployments. Steve’s roles at Ridgeway extended beyond engineering, at time leading Business Development, supporting sales and nurturing partnerships, as well as becoming the primary company spokesperson. During his tenure at Ridgeway, Steve became a world-renowned authority on firewall/NAT traversal and is acknowledged as one of the founding ‘fathers’ of the new Session Border Controller product category.

Before co-founding Ridgeway, Steve had several engineering and leadership positions at BT’s Research Laboratories developing ISDN and video communication systems and also at mbp Systems & Software GmbH and the TSB Bank, where he started his computing career.
